Mecklenburg County Homeowners Can Get Up to $650 for Property Taxes

Applications are open for Mecklenburg County’s HOMES program, which helps qualifying homeowners lower their property tax bill.
How much help is available?
The program provides up to $650 toward Mecklenburg County property taxes. Homeowners in the Town of Davidson may qualify for up to an additional $554.
Who can qualify?
- Own and live in the home as a primary residence.
- Have lived in the home for at least three years.
- Meet the program income limits.
- Have no more than one delinquent tax bill in the past three years.
- Provide 2025 income documents such as W-2, W-4, 1099, or SSI forms.
What can the money cover?
Funds are paid to the Mecklenburg County Tax Collector and reduce the tax due on the homeowner’s primary residence.
How to apply
- Go to MeckNC.gov/4HOMES for the application.
- Collect income documents and property information.
- Email the completed application or drop it off at an approved county location.
- Apply early because applications are processed first-come, first-served until funds run out.
Deadline or window: Applications are due Nov. 20, or earlier if funds run out.
