Missouri Waterfront Homeowners Can Get $2,000 for Landscaping at Lake of the Ozarks
Free Money for Lakefront Landscaping
If you own waterfront property at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, you could get up to $2,000 to improve your yard. The Lake of the Ozarks Watershed Alliance (LOWA) is offering grant funds to help homeowners pay for landscaping that reduces water runoff into the lake.
Who Can Apply
This program is open to waterfront property owners at Lake of the Ozarks. You must own property along the shoreline. The grant covers landscaping projects that directly help water quality. This includes planting native Missouri plants and flowers that slow down runoff from your yard into the lake.
How Much Can You Get
Homeowners can receive up to $2,000 in cost-share grant funds. LOWA gets the money from government grants and passes it along to property owners who make qualifying improvements. The money helps cover the cost of plants, materials, and landscaping work that reduces erosion and runoff.
How to Apply
You can apply directly through the Lake of the Ozarks Watershed Alliance website. Visit their cost-share opportunities page at lowatershed.org to fill out an application. LOWA has teamed up with local master naturalists and gardeners who can help you design a beautiful, low-maintenance landscape that also protects the lake.
Other Programs Available
LOWA also runs two other helpful programs for lake area homeowners. The "Pump, Don't Dump" program provides 26 approved locations around the lake area where RV users and boaters can properly dispose of waste. They also offer a septic tank maintenance program where homeowners can get their systems serviced at a discounted rate through LOWA's local service partners.
Why This Matters
Lake of the Ozarks is one of Missouri's most popular waterfront communities. Keeping the lake clean is a shared responsibility. These grants make it easier and more affordable for homeowners to do their part. Native plants look great, need less maintenance, and help filter water before it reaches the lake. If you live on the waterfront, this is free money worth applying for today.
