Molokai Homeowners Can Apply for Up to $100,000 Through Maui Deed Restriction Pilot

The Maui County Department of Housing has launched a Molokai Voluntary Deed Restriction pilot program.

Eligible homeowners can receive up to $100,000 in exchange for a voluntary 25-year deed restriction that limits future sale terms.

Who may qualify

  • Your household income must be below 140% of Maui County Area Median Income.
  • You must own and live in the home as your primary residence.
  • The property must be on Molokai and classified as owner-occupied.
  • You cannot own another residential property.
  • The home must be free of other mortgages, deed restrictions, and tax liens.

What funds can be used for

Money may be used for home repairs, renovations, mortgage payments, utility payments, and other eligible costs. Winners have 12 months to spend the funds.

Deadline

Applications opened May 4, 2026. They must be received by 4 p.m. on May 29, 2026. The county expects to serve five households by lottery.
