
Native Hawaiian Homeowners Can Get $10,000 Disaster Repair Grants After Kona Low Storms
The Office of Hawaiian Affairs is launching the Mālama Honua Disaster Fund to help Native Hawaiian homeowners repair storm damage from the March 10–24, 2026 kona low storms.
The fund is expected to provide a limited number of $10,000 repair grants for eligible homeowners.
Who may qualify?
Applicants must generally meet these rules:
- Be Native Hawaiian and verified through the OHA Hawaiian Registry Program
- Own the damaged home
- Have lived in the home as their main residence during the storms
- Live in an OHA-identified highly impacted area
- Have minor storm-related damage
- Provide repair or cleanup cost documents
- Submit a current IRS Form W-9
What the grant can help pay for
The money is meant for disaster cleanup and non-structural home repairs. Examples may include flooding, water damage, and other storm-related cleanup or repair needs.
How to apply
Applicants should prepare identification, proof of homeownership, proof the home was their main residence, photos or descriptions of damage, and repair or cleanup cost documents.

Important: This is separate from the OHA March 2026 Kona Low General Disaster Assistance Program, which may offer up to $15,000 for owner-occupied homeowners with major damage or total loss.
