Newport, Kentucky homeowners can apply for help with critical home repairs through the City of Newport, KY Critical Home Repair Program, operated with Habitat for Humanity Greater Cincinnati.
The official application says approved homeowners pay no money out of pocket. Repairs are funded through grant funding from Habitat for Humanity Greater Cincinnati and the City of Newport.
Who can qualify?
The program is for owner-occupied homes in Newport, Kentucky. Applicants must have household income at or below 80% of area median income, be current on property taxes, mortgage payments, and homeowners insurance, and live in a single-family home or condominium that is livable or can become livable after repairs.
There is no age, veteran, or disability requirement. The application says priority is given to homeowners in West Newport.
What repairs are covered?
The program focuses on critical health, safety, habitability, code, water-intrusion, and deterioration issues. Priority exterior repairs include roof water intrusion, box gutter repair or replacement, water entry through walls, windows, or foundations, window replacement, accessibility railings, concrete step repair, and some basic non-structural foundation issues.
