North Carolina Homeowners Can Apply for Up to $16,000 in Energy Saver Rebates
North Carolina homeowners can apply for Energy Saver NC, a state rebate program that helps pay for energy-saving home upgrades.
The program includes more than $208 million in federal rebate funding. It is designed to help low- and moderate-income households lower utility bills and make homes more comfortable.
How Much Money Is Available
Whole-home energy savings rebates can be up to $16,000 for eligible single-family homes.
High-efficiency electric appliance rebates can be up to $14,000 per dwelling unit. Covered upgrades can include up to $8,000 for a whole-home heat pump, $4,000 for an electrical panel, $2,500 for wiring, $1,750 for a heat pump water heater, $1,600 for insulation and air sealing, and $840 for a heat pump clothes dryer or electric stove.
Who May Qualify
The first focus is single-family, owner-occupied homes, especially homes in high energy-burdened areas, disadvantaged regions, and places affected by storms.
Single-family homeowners making less than 80% of area median income may qualify for the largest rebates. Homeowners earning 80% to 150% of area median income may qualify for smaller rebates.
How to Apply
Income-eligible North Carolina homeowners can start the application process at EnergySaverNC.org.
Applicants should be ready to confirm income, homeownership, and the type of upgrade they want. Rebate amounts depend on income, the home, and the project.
The program is open now, and funds are available while program funding lasts.
