Pasadena Homeowners Can Get Up to $7,000 Back for Solar and Battery Storage
If you own a home in Pasadena and have ever thought about going solar, this is a great time to do it.
Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) is rolling out a brand-new Solar and Battery Storage Rebate Program. Starting March 10, homeowners can get money back just for installing solar panels or a battery system.
How Much Money Can You Get?
The rebate depends on the size of your solar system. Most homeowners can expect to get back between $4,200 and $7,000. The base rate is $0.60 per watt of solar installed.
If you qualify as a low-income customer, the rebate jumps to $1.00 per watt — that's a bigger payout to make solar more affordable for everyone.
The city has set aside $800,000 for standard homeowners and another $200,000 just for low-income participants. This is expected to help around 220 homes add roughly 1.5 megawatts of solar power total.
Battery Storage Rebates Too
Want to add a battery so you can store your solar energy? There's money for that too.
- Standard residential customers: $350 per kilowatt-hour of storage
- Low-income or medical customers: $550 per kilowatt-hour
In exchange, you agree to let PWP make small, brief adjustments to your thermostat during times when the power grid is under heavy load. You can override this at any time.
Who Can Apply?
To qualify, you must be a Pasadena Water and Power customer. Both standard and low-income residential customers are eligible. Low-income customers get a higher rebate rate.
How to Apply
The program details were set to be reviewed at a public committee meeting on March 10, 2026. Visit Pasadena Water and Power's website to learn more and sign up once the program launches.
Funding is limited, so it's worth acting early once applications open.
