Pennsylvania LIHEAP Deadline Extended to May 8 for Heating Bill Help
Pennsylvania residents now have until May 8 to apply for LIHEAP
The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services extended the 2025-26 Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program season. The new deadline is May 8, 2026, instead of April 10.
How LIHEAP helps
LIHEAP helps renters and homeowners pay home heating bills. The money is paid directly to the utility company or fuel provider and does not need to be repaid.
Grant amounts
- Cash grants: $200 to $1,000

Households can qualify if income is at or below 150% of the federal poverty level. DHS listed this as $23,940 per year for one person and $48,500 for a family of four.
How to apply
- Apply online through COMPASS
- Call 1-866-550-4355
- Apply through a local county assistance office
Households must apply each year, even if they received help before.
