Ohio Homeowners in Richland County Can Apply for Free Home Repair Grants

Free Home Repair Money in Richland County, Ohio

If you own a home in Richland County, Ohio and have a lower income, there is money available right now to help you fix it up.

The Richland County Land Bank is currently running two programs that offer free grant money to homeowners for repairs. You do not have to pay it back.

Program #1: Lead Safe Ohio

This program helps homeowners remove or cover up lead hazards in their home. Lead is a dangerous metal that can be found in old paint, especially on windows, doors, and exterior surfaces.

The Land Bank has $400,000 available through Lead Safe Ohio. The money can be used to:

  • Replace old siding
  • Replace windows
  • Replace exterior doors
  • Fix or replace gutters and downspouts
  • Repair or replace porches

Who qualifies: You must own your home and have an income at or below 80% of the area median income (AMI). Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Deadline: Funds must be spent by June 30, 2026, so act quickly.

Program #2: Thriving Home

The Thriving Home program offers additional help for homeowners who need broader home repairs. This program also targets low-income households.

How to Apply

Visit richlandcountylandbank.org to fill out an application for either program. More than 60 applications have already been received, so apply as soon as possible.
