What Is This Grant?

If you own and live in a home in Savannah, Georgia, the city may pay for part of your repairs. The City of Savannah Housing Services Department is offering grants of up to $2,000 for minor home repairs. Funding is limited and goes out on a first-come, first-served basis.

What Repairs Qualify?

The grant covers a wide range of common repair needs, including:

  • Roofing
  • Plumbing
  • HVAC (heating and cooling)
  • Electrical work
  • Painting
  • Flooring

What If Repairs Cost More Than $2,000?

If your repair costs exceed the grant amount, you may also qualify for a home improvement loan of up to $15,000. The loan terms are generous: a 40-year payback period at just 2% interest, with no monthly payments required as long as you continue to own and live in the home. You only repay when you sell or transfer the property.

Who Qualifies?

To be eligible for this grant, you must:

  • Own and live in the home (it must be your primary residence)
  • Provide income verification for all household members age 18 and older
  • Show documentation of a current mortgage, clear title, and up-to-date property taxes

There is no age requirement to apply. All income levels may apply — income verification is required but there is no published income cap mentioned in city materials.
