Solar Pro and Power Guru Join Forces to Expand Solar in Southwestern Vermont

Two well-known regional solar companies, Solar Pro and Power Guru, announced plans to combine operations and expand solar energy deployment for homeowners and businesses in southwestern Vermont and adjacent eastern New York.

Solar Pro was founded in 2008 by Jim and Karen Lee. The couple retired in June 2021 and transferred ownership to Alexander Mintz, an experienced solar professional based in the Albany, New York area. Power Guru, based in Bennington, Vermont, had been owned and operated by Bhima Nitta, who passed away in late 2020. Mintz agreed to take over management of Power Guru and is in the process of purchasing the company from the Nitta estate, uniting the two firms under common ownership.

To support the combined company's growth, Jim and Karen Lee have agreed to come out of retirement to serve as sales and system designers for Power Guru. Their return adds decades of regional design and installation experience as the merged operation ramps up capacity.

The timing aligns with strengthened federal incentives for solar. The residential federal income tax credit for solar installations is back up to 30 percent, and business-side incentives are higher still, improving payback for homeowners and commercial property owners considering rooftop solar, battery storage, or EV charging.

Power Guru is the region's sole certified Tesla Powerwall installer and works with Green Mountain Power to deliver battery-backed solar solutions to Vermont customers. The combined Solar Pro / Power Guru operation will continue to offer custom-designed solar, battery storage, and EV charging systems across its southern Vermont and eastern New York service area.
