Sonoma Clean Power Customers Can Get Up to $2,500 for Heat Pump Water Heaters

June 17, 2026

Sonoma Clean Power customers can apply for increased rebates when upgrading to an eligible heat pump water heater. The utility says the higher rebate is available for projects completed during the current program window.

How much money is available?

Customers can receive up to $2,500 back on a qualifying heat pump water heater. Customers enrolled in CARE or FERA bill discount programs may qualify for a rebate covering 50% of the remaining project cost after other rebates, up to $10,000.

Who may qualify?

  • The installation address must be a Sonoma Clean Power account.
  • The heat pump water heater must meet program performance requirements, including qualifying efficiency and Wi-Fi capability rules listed by SCP.
  • Customers are generally limited to one rebate per equipment type per account number.
  • Dual-fuel systems are not eligible.
  • New construction is not eligible, except for fire rebuilds.

How to apply

Use Sonoma Clean Power’s rebate application and submit the required documentation, including a paid invoice, final permit, and photo of the equipment nameplate when applicable.

Deadline or window

The increased heat pump water heater rebate began June 1, 2026 and runs through March 1, 2027. Rebate applications must be submitted no more than 90 days after project completion.

What to know before applying

SCP says program rules, rebates, and eligibility can change at any time, and total SCP rebates cannot exceed the project cost when combined with other rebates.
