Springfield, Illinois Homeowners Can Get Up to $25,000 for Repairs

Springfield, Illinois has expanded a city repair program for low-income homeowners. The program can help pay for major home repairs that keep people safely housed.

How much help is available?

Eligible homeowners can receive up to $25,000 in assistance. The city match increased from 50/50 to 60/40, and very-low-income owners may qualify for a 90/10 match.

Who can qualify?

  • Own and live in the home.
  • Home must be outside TIF districts and cannabis grant districts.
  • Meet HUD low-income homeowner rules.
  • Meet any extra city requirements listed in the city ordinance.

What can the money cover?

The program can cover exterior repairs such as roofs, ADA ramps, and porches. It now also includes interior improvements, tree removal, lead pipe replacement, and other qualifying repairs.
