Waterloo New York Homeowners Can Apply for $30,000 to $40,000 Repair Grants
Waterloo homeowners can now apply for state-funded repair help. Typical awards range from $30,000 to $40,000 for eligible owner-occupied homes.
What the program offers
The Village of Waterloo Housing Rehabilitation Program helps income-eligible homeowners fix health, safety, and structural problems in their homes.
Typical grant awards range from $30,000 to $40,000 per home. Projects with asbestos removal or lead paint work may qualify for more help.
The money can be used for roofing, heating, plumbing, electrical work, insulation, masonry, windows, doors, painting, and inside or outside carpentry.
Who may qualify
Applicants must own and live in a single-family home in Waterloo. The home must need repairs, and the household must meet low-to-moderate income rules.
The reported income limit is $54,250 for a one-person household. The limit rises by household size, up to $102,250 for an eight-person household.
How to apply
Applications are open now. Waterloo has hired Thoma Development Consultants to run the program and process applications.
Homeowners should contact Thoma Development Consultants during regular business hours to request an application and confirm current rules before starting work.
The grant is secured by a five-year lien. Homeowners do not have to repay it unless the home is sold or is no longer their main home during that five-year period.
