Westport homeowners can get up to $21,000 for repairs

If you own and live in your home in Westport, Massachusetts, you may be able to get up to $21,000 to fix important problems in your house.

This program is called CRE-HAB. It helps low- and moderate-income homeowners make safety and code repairs.

What the money can pay for

  • Roof repairs or replacement
  • Plumbing and electrical fixes
  • Heating system upgrades
  • Windows and siding
  • Foundation and water-infiltration repairs
  • Accessibility updates like wheelchair ramps

Who can apply

  • You must own and live in the home (owner-occupied)
  • The home must be in Westport
  • The property must be assessed at $450,000 or less
  • You must meet local income limits and other program rules

How the grant is paid back

The funding is issued as a deferred payment loan. That means no monthly payment. If you sell or transfer the home before 10 years, part of the loan may need to be repaid.

How to apply

  • Get an application packet from Westport Town Hall (816 Main Road, 2nd floor) or from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund website
  • Submit your completed application and required documents
  • For help, contact the Housing Assistance Office (open Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

Deadline

Applications are open now through December 28, 2026, or until funds are exhausted.
